Vegetable Donation Project
Covid-19 left many in our community in financial hardship. Last fall we partnered with New Bethel AME Church, New Life Ministries, and the #IAMTHECHURCH coalition of churches in Gadsden County, FL to send fresh produce from the farm to the community. We collected cash donations from the public in order to cover our costs of growing, harvesting and packing produce for these food pantries. We also had help harvesting potatoes and sweet potatoes with volunteers from the churches. The project was a great success and we are continuing it into the 2021-2022 season. Here is a report on what we achieved this season:
October 2020 - June 2021
Total cash donations amounted to $5,000, with that we contributed the following to food pantries:
Greens - 502 bunches
Misc Vegetables - 137 pounds
Potatoes - 2,790 pounds
Squash and Cucumbers - 2,620 pounds
Sweet Potatoes - 2,000 pounds
Please note: Produce provided was market quality, never seconds or "throw aways"
In order to continue this work we are again asking for donations from the public. Help feed the community by donating. Thank you
